Music, love and affectionate relationships teach me a lot and inspire me to do something. Poetry and cinema also play a big role in finding me myself. Also, great artists that I have interacted with, the way they think has registered somewhere in mind. All this could be me as far as I am feeling at the moment.

What makes me, me? My need to stay individual and to create art. When I was 2, I declared I was going to be an artist and I have stayed true to this. I find it impossible to separate my need to create from who I am… even after a major illustration deadline I then pick up a pencil and draw for relaxation! I can’t even imagine who or what I’d be without my art – that’s what makes me, me!

I think it’s about the boundaries that surround us and how our response to those boundaries shape us a people; those boundaries can be cultural, mental, physical, implicit or explicit. Do we observe them, subvert, hide within, question, accept, remain oblivious or openly defy or just not see them. It’s what my art is also about!

After completion of their technological training the PANDAVAs and KAURAVAs were asked by their teacher DHRONACHARYA to aim and shoot a bird which was set by him as their target on a tree top. While the people were targeting DHRONACHARYA asked one by one what they are noticing….all, except ARJUNA answered that they are noticing the tree…leaves…flowers and the bird…only ARJUNA told he is noticing only the birds eye….(This is from MAHABHARATA…)…THIS SHEER ABILITY OF OBSERVING MADE ME WHAT I AM.

Trying to live in both simplicity and love. As a “wounded healer” to continue to be grateful for what is, and pay it forward. To be open to the questions, recognizing it is the journey that is important, and that we are more alike than different. (Maya Angelou). Grateful for all who have come into my life and those I may never know, however, continue to feed us with their own legacies and wisdom. Better to light a candle than curse the darkness. One day, one step, one breath at a time. Namaste.
