Being true to myself: trying to be kind, creative, tenacious, funny and warm. Trying new things, getting excited about possibilities and ideas. Collaborating. Finding inspiration and connections in other people and music, film, nature, heritage, theatre, art and design. Dipping my toes into new projects. Loving and being loved.

I am a little girl in a 48 year woman’s body. I drink robots tea and ginger. I love chicory and rocket and Ferrero rocher. I like and need my own company but I also like to share with close friends and family. I love dancing and being creative. I shout when I get frustrated and get loud when I am excited. I want to help others and I want to be loved and liked. I often fear that I am not good enough. I worry about making the wrong decisions but I don’t worry as much as I used to. I practice meditation and want to grow spiritually and emotionally. I like beauty and I am in awe of nature. I love my partner, I love intimacy and sex. I am touchy feel you. I cry easily. I am intense and that sometimes frightens people. I become defensive when I feel threatened or caught out in the wrong. I like warmth. I want to be humble but on occasions, I feel that I know better than others and become controlling. I hate this feeling. I worry about my children’s future and I want to make it all better for them but I try to let go and trust that things will work out for the best and they will be fine. But I find it difficult to shake off the sense of responsibility and wanting to make everything better for everyone.

That’s a difficult question, one’s heritage but I felt I never belonged to where I was raised.
I didn’t grow up surrounded by culture the opposite in fact. My parents died when I was young, my father when I was 14 and my mother after a long period of illness when I was 23. At the age 14 I took over my fathers garage as a studio, partly to be close to his surroundings, he was a carpenter as well as other things. I escaped the council estate at 17 and went to Art school and have been evolved in the arts ever since.

Smoking cigarettes and solitude, to work with the passion in my heart to uncover it and find the joy and fly! I love wood engraving and printing my blocks, I love my printing press and the smell of ink. I love walking with my lurcher and knowing where the wren nests. I love my garden, tending it and watching it grow- I need to feel that magic. When I am bored I watch clouds and think of drawing or painting. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t. I always try to smile at strangers [it might be the only smile they see all day] and I try to be a feather and breathe like a whale.

The place where I grew up is the center of Tokyo. However, I had been getting sense of strong familiar to nature when I was child, through spending time in there. I started to have interest in animism after I began to study painting. Japanese Buddhism, Shinto, and Celtic thought for example. I live in a forest at present, and have been enjoying the blessings of nature. I sometimes feel keenly I am a tiny part of nature, in a short term of long history.
